I have to disagree. College campuses can get very dangerous very quick, and I think people would be a little more hesitant when they know that their victim may be armed and willing to defend themselves."Alexithymia" wrote:
I'm for the right to bare arms, but I think we need better regulations. I also think it's ridiculous that Republicans, in Texas, are trying to pass a bill allowing college students to carry guns on campuses.
Unlike all the people that feel they need 26 pictures in their signature, I'll just keep it to a couple sentences. Doesn't that just make your day?

I think it's the exact opposite of what you just said. You're making it easier for attackers to get access to weapons; and what makes you think they'll pick armed victims? Not to mention that college students are notorious for drinking! Can you image a party with a bunch of drunk, armed kids? Plus, the 3rd main cause for the death of college students is suicide."VermiciousKanids" wrote:

But they're still drunk, armed kids. They still have weapons. Whatever they can find in the frat house, cars, they may even have some knives stashed somewhere. The weapons are there, and when they're closer to them, they feel that it's safer to pick a fight. When people can have a gun, there's always that thought in in the back of your head: "If I pick a fight with this guy, he might have a gun, so I better not try". The risk of mutually assured destruction will keep fights from happening."Alexithymia" wrote:

I completely disagree. First off, I'm not talking about gangs that are going to be fighting anyway. I'm talking about two drunk guys that start arguing at a party and start a fist fight, something that's relatively common. What do you get when you add a guy with a gun into the equation? A dead person. Perhaps a person that wasn't even part of the fight, but was accidentally shot. No, that thought doesn't go through most criminals minds! Outside of college campuses people are allowed to have guns and guess what? People are still attacked. Do you think drunk idiots are going to be thinking, "What if this guy has a gun?" No, because they aren't even considering the risk of themselves going to jail. In April, a girl was killed, when she was accidentally shot by a drunk college student."VermiciousKanids" wrote:
