High School Musical 2 :: Deluxe Dance Edition DVD Review
The gang from East High is back with a deluxe version of their crazy summer adventures—there’s more dancing, more singing and more HSM madness. Kidzworld learns some moves from HSM 2 :: 2-Disc Deluxe Dance Edition.
School’s Out for Summer
Same gang, different season: This time, the HSM kids are out for summer vacation. But everything’s not as easy as it should be in the sunny months, because Troy needs a job to get money for college. Not to mention the fact that Sharpay is in hot pursuit and is trying to get him hired at her parents’ country club, Lava Springs.
Hot and Cold
Troy starts work at Lava Springs, but to Sharpay’s dismay, he’s brought Gabriella, Taylor and Chad with him. But Sharpay has her sights set on Troy, and so she does everything she can to make the rest of their working lives at the club miserable. At the same time, Troy starts to see that being aligned with the Evans family could get him a scholarship and a ticket to the good life, which drives him and Gabriella apart.
The Living is Easy?
A visiting college basketball team shows an interest in Troy, which makes Chad jealous. At the same time, Sharpay and Troy are growing closer, which angers Gabriella. Meanwhile, Ryan is spending more time with Gabriella, Chad and the Wildcats, and the Lava Springs talent show is just around the corner. Can Troy reconcile with his friends and his girlfriend in time? Or is he Sharpay’s pet for good?
DVD Features
This huge deluxe edition has 5—count ‘em, 5—extra hours of footage, including deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, and a preview of HSM 3, out October 24, 2008. But the best part by far is the interactive dance-along that lets you control the moves you want to do from your favorite songs, right alongside the cast!
The Bottom Line
The only really good reason to re-release a DVD is if you’ve got something new to offer. Good thing someone told Disney this! For HSM obsessives, or dance aficionado, this is a must-have, if only to bide your time until HSM3 comes out next month!
