Josh Groban CD Review
Who's that young, cute opera star making waves with a voice that'll send shivers down your spine? He's Josh Groban and he's one of the most talented opera stars around. Check out his new CD.
Warning: This review contains references to a lot of old dudes so before you continue, you might want to grab your parents, grandparents or an encyclopedia. You have been warned!
See what happens when you work long and hard toward your dream? Even the most unobtainable goal can be realized. Sure it helps if your vocal coach knows producer/arranger David Foster (Celine Dion), but I digress. With the vocal smarts of Pavarotti, 20 year-old Josh Groban tackles everything from opera to something by that American Pie guy, Don Mclean (no whiz kid, Madonna didn't write American Pie) on his debut CD entitled, you guessed it, Josh Groban.
Sounding very, very like a young and equally hairy Mandy Patinkin (Chicago Hope, The Princess Bride and lots of Broadway stuff) Josh and friends (The Corrs, Charlotte Church, Lilli Hayden and Delirium's Rhys Fulber) bring new life and just a hint of Clearasil to some songs your bella nana used to hum. Or maybe they're new, I can't tell.
You gotta admit though, this dude can make with the singing even if Josh's choice in ditties isn't your cuppa. If he plays his chords right, I'm betting he could end up being a cross between Enrique Iglesias and Andrea Bocelli.
And just in case you missed Josh last year on Ally McBeal (she was his prom date, remember!) you can catch him on a holiday episode of Ally airing tonight, December 10th. And finally, Josh is scheduled to sing during the closing ceremony of some big snow show you might have heard of before - it's called the Winter Olympics. And how's your day?
