X-Men: Mutant Academy for Playstation

Dec 27, 2006

Worried about a post-movie lemon of a game? Don't be. Mutant Academy pulls it off in style with some serious butt to kick and some wicked moves to learn.

You've got the whole crew, minus Rogue, but with Gambit and Beast. They're packing their comic outfits rather than the toned-down movie duds and they look great. Each one of 'em is done up with awesome graphics and looks ready to jump out and pound something.

Once you get into the ring it's time to start kicking butt and piecing together combo moves and power attacks - they're where it's at. There's a wicked new toy to play with; three super bars at the bottom of the screen that power up your secret moves. The first bar is the standard super move bar, the second bar let's you pull off super moves that do double, triple, even 5 times the damage. Ouch! The third bar is the X-Treme bar and let's you pound the X button to charge up an attack before you unleash it. Once you get the bars down you can swap [kwlink]power[/kwlink] between them and fire off the super move of your choice.

How Hard Is It?

The game isn't that hard, especially if you've mastered the controls.
