Disney Classic Short Films :: DVD Reviews

Disney has finally released their collection of fairy tale shorts on DVD! Kidzworld takes a look at Mickey and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs and The Prince and the Pauper.

Mickey and the Beanstalk

In this beautifully animated homage to Jack and the Beanstalk, Mickey, Goofy and Donald climb a ginormous beanstalk that leads to a magical land where everything is oversized—including a nasty giant named Willy! Mickey and co. want to rescue a beautiful golden harp but the giant keeps her pretty close to him so it’ll take all their wits to beat the giant and get back home with the precious harp. This DVD also features four other short films including The Brave Little Tailor, Gulliver Mickey, Thru the Mirror and Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip.

Three Little Pigs

You know this classic tale but you’ve got to see the way Disney does it! The three little pigs encounter some big bad trouble when the wolf comes a-knocking! This story teaches some important lessons about hard work and the importance of perserverence. The first two pigs build their homes quickly out of straw and sticks but they pay the price for their laziness when the wolf huffs and puffs and blows their houses down! The third pig built his home out of bricks and the construction took a lot more time and work than the other two flimsily-constructed shacks, but in the end it’s only the bricks that can protect the pigs from the hungry wolf outside. This DVD also features six other short films including The Big Bad Wolf, Three Little Wolves, Lambert the Sheepish Lion, Chicken Little, Three Blind Mouseketeers and Elmer Elephant.

The Prince and the Pauper

Imagine if you looked exactly like a member of the royal family—now imagine the prince was sick of living a sheltered life and wanted to switch places with you! That’s what happens to a pauper (pauper means poor person) named Mickey when he meets the Crown Prince. The two look-alikes switch places but their joyrides are full of unexpected challenges and Micky and the Prince soon learn the grass isn't always greener on the other side. This DVD also features four other short films including The Pied Piper, Old King Cole, A Knight For a Day and Ye Olden Days.

Here are my top 9 worst TV shows I have ever watched. 1. Breadwinners and Sanjay and Craig (tie) 2. Marvin Marvin 3.  Pickle and Peanut 4 Fred Figglehorn  5. Annoying Orange 6. Austin and Ally 7. Dog on a Blog 8. The Day My Butt Went Psycho (I'm not Canadian but it doesn't look like a good show) 9. Lab Rats  Basically every show that has a laugh track.  If you are looking for a good show, watch Doctor Who. No laugh tracks, humor is used properly, good storyline, DOESN'T take place in a school ALL OF THE TIME (well, it does in some episodes such as school reunion) The cast isn't full of teenagers and parents won't get so annoyed of the show. It's about a 900 year old time lord (who looks like a human) that travels in a TARDIS. He has 13 regenerations and almost always has a female companion with him. He is the last of his species so he's always lonely on Earth.

Plus he said MOST on cartoon Network. Not every show. I have to agree. There is better TV out there... Such as.... *takes deep breath* Doctor Who (Better than ALL of the trash they show on Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and most cartoon network shows combined) Old spongebob (not the new spongebob episodes) Sherlock (hmmm I have never watched the show but i have heard it's awesome) I worship the BBC for making good things happen to the world.
