So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Ep. 1

May 28, 2010

On May 27th So You Think You Can Dance returned for its 7th season. You’d think after 7 seasons, the search to find amazing talent would decrease. But you’d be wrong. After only one episode of auditions, it’s clear that season 7 will not disappoint.

The show is going to be a little different this season. Instead of the usual Top 20 dancers (10 guys and 10 girls) competing for the title, there will only be a Top 10. And instead of sending one guy and one girl home each week, only one dancer will be eliminated. So don’t worry. Just because there’s only 10 dancers doesn’t mean the show will be any shorter.

Past Season Winners

With six seasons under our belt, it’s hard to keep track of all the winners. So here’s a list to refresh your memory:

  • Season 1 – Nick Lazzarini
  • Season 2 – Benji Schwimmer
  • Season 3 – Sabra Johnson
  • Season 4 – Joshua Allen
  • Season 5 – Jeanine Mason
  • Season 6 – Russell Ferguson

This season, the judges began their search in New York. Contestants put their best dancing shoes forward, trying to earn a plane ticket to Las Vegas.

The episode began with 22 year old Sarah Brinson, a contemporary dancer who the judges sent straight to Vegas. Later, Teddy Tedholm, a familiar face from season 6, returned to the show. But he didn’t need his crazy checkered pants to stand out. His bold, creative choreography and emotional performance moved the judges. Many other unique and talented dancers impressed the judges, but as always, there were a number of people who were simply there for comic relief, specifically a cross-dressing, horror-movie maker.
