We're pretty sure Swimfan won't be the number one rental when it comes out on DVD and video March 11, 2003 - because it sucked. Here's some reasons you'll want to skip it - and why you might rent it anyway.

Why Swimfan Is Not Worth Renting:

At the very beginning of SwimFan, Ben Cronin (Jesse Bradford) cheats on his girlfriend (Shiri Appleby) with the new girl, Madison Bell (Erika Christensen) and from then on Madison becomes a crazy, psycho stalker. Erika Christensen looks like a real floozy in SwimFan with make-up galore and her character plays the part too. She's supposed to look like a sweet girl from the south but ends up looking more like Christina Aguilera in the Dirrty video.

Everything about SwimFan was aggravating. From the less-than scary "thriller" plot, to Ben Cronin thinking it was OK to cheat on his girlfriend, to the stereotypical dork that all the jocks pick on - SwimFan had absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Why You Might Rent It Anyway:

Swimfan has a somewhat impressive teen cast with Erika Christensen of Traffic, Jesse Bradford of Clockstoppers and Shiri Appleby, formerly on Roswell. These guys have all done amazing jobs in other movies and for some reason signed on to do this extremely lame film.

If you're into the whole, self-inflicted pain of watching these sort of failures, then you might enjoy the 10 deleted scenes included on the Swimfan DVD as well as the "Making Of" featurette. It might give you an insight into where they went wrong, or just fulfill that need for more truly horrific cinema.
