Celebs Attend Donkey Kong Game Launch

Nov 16, 2010

It’s On Like Donkey Kong!

The release of the highly anticipated Donkey Kong Country Returns for Wii is just around the corner (November 21, to be exact) and we aren’t the only ones excited! A group of our fav celebrities gathered this past weekend in Los Angeles for Nintendo’s launch of the new game.

Celebrity sightings include Robbie Amell and Ashley Argota (both from True Jackson, VP) as well as Disney’s pop duo Savvy and Mandy. The steamy Justin Chambers (Alex from Grey’s Anatomy) was also in attendance with his family.

The celebs gathered to test out Donkey Kong Country Returns for themselves before the game is released and participate in a special celebrity tournament! Savvy and Mandy confessed that they are tech geeks at heart, and both have a Wii at home! To top off the event, everyone indulged in a few banana splits, because of course a Donkey Kong event wouldn’t be complete without some bananas!

Many of the reviews and critics say it's bad because they are only looking at it from 'comic to movie' perspective. It was still a really cool movie and you should go see it. I'd have to agree with this. The movie itself was great. I think some people looked at it poorly because they were expecting something more similar to the older films or comparing it too hard to the comics. I personally think that it was a great way to reinvent some of the characters.

"It's so hard to talk when you want to k-ll yourself. That's above and beyond everything else, and it's not a mental complaint-it's a physical thing, like it's physically hard to open your mouth and make the words come out. They don't come out smooth and in conjunction with your brain the way normal people's words do; they come out in chunks as if from a crushed-ice dispenser; you stumble on them as they gather behind your lower lip. So you just keep quiet.” Ned Vizzini, "It's Kind of a Funny Story"

“Isn't there something in living dangerously?' There's a great deal in it,' the Controller replied. 'Men and women must have their adrenals stimulated from time to time.' What?' questioned the Savage, uncomprehending. It's one of the conditions of perfect health. That's why we've made the V.P.S. treatments compulsory.' V.P.S.?' Violent Passion Surrogate. Regularly once a month. We flood the whole system with adrenin. It's the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconvenience.' But I like the inconveniences.' We don't,' said the Controller. 'We prefer to do things comfortably.' But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.' In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence. I claim them all,' said the Savage at last. Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”
