Patapon 2, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, and Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times
Keep up-to-date with all the latest video game releases! For this week, we preview Patapon 2, Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times, and the new Wii re-release of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
Pata Pata Pata Pon!Patapon 2 is finally here, the sequel to the old rhythmic strategy game for the PSP of the same name. By beating out specific drum beats, you guide your awesome troops to hunt and fight battles, with some cool RPG elements to keep you playing on and on. The Patapon have built a boat to sail to the far off new lands, and they are washed ashore to find a new enemy tribe, the Karmen. One exciting edition this time around is multiplayer, which requires that you and your friends hit the same beats and the same commands all at the same time. If you have a PSP, there aren't that many exciting games all the time, but this is a must-buy.
Rhythm with Waggle
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, another rhythm game for the GameCube, is coming back out for the Wii in Nintendo's New Play Control series. You no longer need the trademark bongos to play the game, all you need is your regular Wiimote and nunchuk controller. The motion controls add a bit of excitement to this old hit, so it's definitely worth a buy if you didn't try it the first time. Don't confuse this game with Donkey Konga, the other bongo-beatin' game, this was the platformer which had you beat the bongos to jump around, beat enemies, and collect bananas.
It's Animal Crossing... With Magic!
If you've played Animal Crossing, then Magician's Quest is more of the same with some extra, pretty cool, Harry Potter-ish elements added in. If you haven't played Animal Crossing, then this is a new, interesting, real-time life sim game for the Nintendo DS. Konami's new take on Nintendo's Animal Crossing game adds in some cool games and magic classes to make the oddly exciting running around and fishing gameplay of Animal Crossing even better. If you haven't got a PSP, this is the game to buy now this week.
