Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles: PS2 Video Game Review

Jan 07, 2007

Naruto Uzumaki is super popular! He's a spaz of a ninja from the Village Hidden in the Leaves and you can find his adventures in manga and in his anime TV show. He even has a card game! There are also a bunch of Naruto fighting video games, including Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles. But, this one is different because it's a new story you haven't seen in the show or comics. Is it any good? Here's the 411 with Gary's game review.

Naruto - Basic Ninja Action

Uzumaki Chronicles is basically a 3D fighting game, but it has a dose of Final Fantasy role-playing goodness to it as well. You go on missions as Naruto, with other ninja as backup, battling rogue ninja and thugs as you try to save the day and become Hokage in the process.

Naruto - Kickin' Butt with the Gang

The best part about Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles is how easy it is to play. From basic attacks to unleashing Shadow Clone Jutsu and more, it's a snap. The battles are fun too, with lots of villains to clobber and even a few puzzles to solve. You can recruit other ninja to your team, each with special moves you can unleash. Also, as you fight you earn Virtue Points you can spend to power-up Naruto, making him stronger and giving him more abilities!

Naruto - Villain Ninja Vengeance

Where's Sakura? C'mon girl, represent! She isn't the only missing ninja, which is a bummer because the wacky ninja are the coolest thing about Naruto. The missions get repetitive after a while too, which is a bit annoying. And the bad guys. Wow, these dummies couldn't pass recess, nevermind ninja training.

Naruto - Hokage or Ninja Dropout?

This is a solid fighting game. Anybody who wants an easy-to-play fighting game will enjoy it and Naruto fans will get a serious kick out of adventuring as the loud-mouthed, butt-kicking, wannabe Hokage!

Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles Thumbs Up:

  • Lead a team of ninjas on missions.
  • Power-up with stronger attacks and special moves.
  • Meet the wacky ninjas from the Naruto anime.

Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles Thumbs Down:

  • The missions get repetitive.
  • Bad guys so dumb they're failing recess.
