The N64 classic makes a stunning return with a new face and a new look. But was it better to leave sleeping Bonds lie? Read our review to find out!

The original Goldeneye game for the Nintendo 64 was one of the first successful first-person shooters on the console, thanks to the innovative analog stick controls that is now so common. Fans of the 007 game have been begging for a remake for years and, now that they finally have it, some are afraid that the retro game may not live up to their rose-tinted memories.

Everything Old is New Again

Aside from the name of the game and the story, Goldeneye 007 is a completely different game with different maps, level design, and even cast. No longer do you play as the cool Pierce Brosnan. Instead, you are the thuggish Daniel Craig in a stealth/action game.

The game ultimately gives players a taste of the old with lots of spice of the new. Almost every level has multiple paths, meaning lots of replay value in the single player game. [kwlink 24231]Modern gunfight gameplay[/kwlink], like hiding behind covers and no health bar, are the mainstays, but you can always try playing on classic mode with health bars!

This Game is Golden

The most important part of the Goldeneye experience, multiplayer, is absolutely amazing. You can even play online! The Wii controls work great and you can fully customize them, right down to pointer speed and sensitivity. Best of all, you can save your settings to individual profiles for multiplayer so that everyone can play how they want.

The enemy AI and graphics are pretty incredible for the Wii. Facial movements and character design are amazing. When you shoot an enemy down, it is easy to recognize if its lethal or not. The game can lag sometimes but it's worth it for all the explosion and gun effects.

Overall, whether you are an old school gamer looking to relive some nostalgia or a newer core gamer who learned to play with Halo and Call of Duty, Goldeneye 007 will not disappoint. Highly recommended.
