Imagine being able to control your BeyBlades the way they do it in the cartoons. How cool would that be? Check out our review to find out!

BeyBlades are back. In Metal Fusion: Battle Fortress for the Wii, you play as spikey haired Gingka, who gets warped into a giant floating Battle Fortress and robbed of his powerful Pegasus BeyBlade. You must fight your way through the fortress, collect all the BeyBlade parts to rebuild the Pegasus, and defeat the enemies responsible for this whole mess.

Blah Blah Blah Blades

There is an ok story in Metal Fusion: Battle Fortress, but it is told with a lot of dialogue and pictures of characters that are hardly animated. There isn't even voice acting!

The actual BeyBlade battlesM aren't that much better. After you release your BeyBlade into the arena, you can wave your Wiimote to control the BeyBlade's movements. Unfortunately, this doesn't work too well and is mostly unreliable.

There is power bar that fills up the longer you spin. You can use this to unleash special moves that can do things like make your BeyBlade bigger or spin faster. If you charge the bar up completely, you can use a super power that has some pretty awesome animation. However, poor controls also ruin these effects. For the super power, you need to shake the Wiimote like crazy in order to score more damage.

Wii vs. DS

Overall, the game is pretty boring. There is only so much you can do with BeyBlade battling and, when it doesn't even work all the time, it becomes too troublesome to play. At the very least, the Wii release of Metal Fusion is better than the DS version. If you have to choose between the Wii or DS version, take the Wii version, which has a better story, different battle modes, and includes a DVD with an episode of BeyBlades. The DS version of the game doesn't even have a map to show how far along you are in the game.
