Cell Phone Addiction

Your first addiction may have been candy. Next… maybe you couldn’t turn your head away from the TV when teletubbies was on. Now, you can’t stop jumping all around your family room hooked up to your Wii. But the worst has yet to come… Are you also addicted to a cell phone?

Cell Phone Fix

We’re all a little bit guilty to spend too much time on our phones these days. Besides calling your mom to tell her you’re going to be home late for supper, you can text your friends, play video games, take pictures, make movies, program an alarm to remind yourself to freshen your breath, find yourself on a live map from a satellite… it’s so addicting!

  • Car Accidents resulting
  • Tunnel Vision
  • Less conversation between people

Serious Solutions

There is no doubt that cell phones are great technology that make our lives easier and help us communicate. But let’s be honest… we shouldn’t use them all the time just to entertain ourselves. Life is not always about entertainment. If you think you are addicted to your cell phone, you should seriously try to cure your addiction. Here are some fun things to help solve your cell phone addiction:

  • Get your friends to try a “No-Texting Tuesdays”
  • Every time you use your cell phone, put a quarter into a jar… compare with your friends to see who collects the most money
  • Limit yourself to just your top 5 apps
  • Do a project for school about raising awareness about cell phone addiction (collect surveys, make statistics). Find out yourself if kids at your school are addicted to their cell phones. Report back to Kidzworld… we want to hear about it!

In my opinion, cursing in general is pretty tasteless. It's not exactly a behavior to admire.  However, in regards to the question, I don't think people who are 13 and under should be cursing. Not to sound condescending to those who are younger than me, but my reasoning is, many people who are in that particular age group don't fully comprehend the weight expletives carry.  Here is an example: A mother is out running errands in heavy traffic. Her 6 year old son is seated in the back of the car.  As she's about to make a turn, another vehicle cuts her off. Irritated, she curses the offender under her breath, unaware that her son has heard her. Later, while in a check-out line at a supermarket, her son, growing restless, stomps his foot and yells the same curse. The six year old didn't understand what he was saying, he was repeating what he'd heard from his mother. He didn't understand that the word was inappropriate and potentially offensive.  The average 13 year old (or even a 10 year old, for that matter), however, would understand that it was inappropriate and that it was offensive.

I believe that it would be beneficial if we kinda cut down on the baby making. The more people on earth, that means that more resources are being used. In a way gays are doing you a favor. Odds are, early on, gays were most likely killed for being different. So it wasn't like they had to chance to evolve .   If gays/lesbians we made to have babies then gays would not even exist. Just because a century old book says that gays cant be married doesn't mean people are going to listen to it. Modify you bible to the now times. Rules change, so should your's. Interesting... And how do you suggest we do that? Prevent people from having children? Slowly dispatch of the current population? I'm sorry. Life is the most precious  gift. I don't believe we have the right take that away from another. *cough cough* Back to the main topic at hand... I agree that "there are plenty of people, gay and straight, that love each other." You're not wrong in that assumption. However, there are all kinds of love -though at the root core it comes with willing the good others. (We should "love one another as He has loved us.") But the attraction and desire to be with another as as man and wife can be one? That's called lust. As a Christian, I believe that such physicality should be reserved for marriage with the intention of bringing new life into the world.  Like any group seen as different, homosexuals have been persecuted (ex: WWII) -as they still are. But let's take a looksie back in the past, shall we? In some cultures such as the Roman? Homosexual relationships were actually encouraged. Specifically, male relationships -many, not all, between those of striking age differences. Now do you believe these were sought out for pleasure or out of love? Haha, actually? The Book's been around for well over a century now... Perhaps, maybe there just might be a sufficient reason as to why. Now, to change the rules? Sorry,  no can do. They aren't mine to alter,  though they're certainly mine to follow (;     Amen to that!
