Get To Know Issa Thompson!

If you’ve never heard of Issa, get ready to hear lots of him soon! Issa Thompson is the youngest rapper to ever sign with Jive records at just 16 years old! He may be a fresh face in the industry, but this talented cutie is ready to take on the music biz like a pro.

Already being compared to musicians like Lil Wayne, the Atlanta-raised honor roll student has already laid down his rhymes on tracks with rappers like Soulja Boy! KW was lucky enough to catch up with him and find out what he’s all about!

Kidzworld:How would you describe your music?

  • Issa:I would describe my music as being inspirational, meaningful, and motivational.

Kidzworld: You are the youngest rapper to be signed to Jive music, how does that feel?

  • Issa: It feels amazing. It feels historic so I have to work even harder to prove to the label and the world that they made a good decision signing me so young and as a rapper to a R&B label. All I can do is give all thanks to my team (wolfpack) and of course GOD.

Kidzworld: We hear that music runs in your family, do you think that’s why you were attracted to it?

  • Issa: I definitely feel that my grandfather and father inspired me to become a musician. If it wasn’t for them I probably wouldn’t be doing what I do.

Kidzworld: Who is your favorite artist you’ve worked with so far?

  • Issa: My favorite artist hast to be Deonte who is an up and coming artist from Atlanta, Georgia

Kidzworld: Who would you like to work with in the future?

  • Issa: I would love to work with Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne Jay-Z, and Rick Ross.

Kidzworld: Do you ever get stage fright performing?

  • Issa: I always get butterflies before I go on stage but once I step on the stage everything is fine.

Kidzworld: What is like to still be a high school student and hanging out and recording with artists you’ve looked up to?

  • Issa: It’s great, I am truly blessed and every day I thank GOD for the life he has given me. This life feels like I'm dreaming.

Kidzworld: What was it like to be discovered, and how did it happen? How did it change your life?

  • Issa: I was discovered by a production label by the name of "Crownworld Ent" and they lead me to Wayne Williams (from Jive records). He saw a video of me and soon had me doing a showcase in front of all the A&R's and VP's at Jive. I then was signed weeks later and the rest is history. I couldn’t be any more thankful

Kidzworld: You’re releasing a mixtape called Back to the Future, why did you choose that name?

  • Issa: I chose this name because on this mixtape I have old school tracks that I redid with my lyrics as well as new songs so we came up with the whole idea of ''Back to the Future". It's kind of like I will be the bridge in hip hop that wakes up new rappers and reminds them of the past and gets them focused on the future of our music.

Kidzworld:What do you hope for in the future with your music?

  • Issa: I hope to become the greatest and no matter what stay the person that I am today.

Kidzworld: What is the craziest thing you’ve heard from a fan so far?

  • Issa: The other day when I was live on ustream I called a couple of my fans and they started crying. that really touched me to know that I can have that kind of effect on someone’s life. That kind of thing is what keeps me going every day.

Here's a little taste of Issa's music, in What ya Lookin At? featuring Lil Chuckee!

So even though Tangled was really funny i will always pick Brave. That's a really good point ^-^ I still like Tangled better. The plot made more sense and was better written (in my opinion though) I thought the humor was better as well; definitely a lot less crude! Also, the lack of songs in Brave bummed me out... it is a Disney Princess Movie :/ (Don't argue that it's Pixar!) Wait you think because it's a Disney movie there has to be singing!? Really that's dumb. Ok that Iis just my opinion. But really that's dumb.  No, that's not what I think. They're are plenty of Disney movies without singing. I just would appreciate that aspect -especially in a Disney Princess movie, but it's okay.
