Athletes Gone Wild

Jul 10, 2018

In every sport, there is always one or two players that fly off the handle. Sometimes athletes get a little crazy when they are making so much money and people treat them like Gods. Sometimes they just can’t handle the pressure. So from time to time, they do things that are above the law. Here are Kidzworld’s athletes gone wild.

Maradona Madness

Diego MaradonaSoccer Legend Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona was a star soccer player in Argentina. After he brought home a World Cup in 1978 and then again in 1986, his country loved him so much that he kind of let himself go. He became addicted to drugs and it has been reported that he owes the Italian government over 30 million euros (that's a lotta dollas!).

Terrell's Tiffs

Terrell OwensFootball Legend Terrell Owens

Lots of football players have been known to let their egos get to their heads, but Terrell Owens has to be one of the worst. It all started when he began trash talking his own teammates on the San Francisco 49ers. Since then, Terrell has been traded four  times because of his bad attitude.

Terrible Todd

We all know that hockey is a violent game, but Todd Bertuzzi took it to a whole new level when he purposely attacked another player from behind for revenge. Todd was trying to get Steve Moore to fight him and, when Steve declined, Todd skated up from behind him and punched him in the back of the head. The punch broke Steve’s neck and Todd was suspended for a whole year.

Basketball's Bad Boy

Basketball’s token player gone wild has got to be Dennis Rodman, thanks to his wacky hairdos and nasty lifestyle. Dennis played for the Chicago Bulls for several championships and was known as the best defensive player in the game. But as he became more and more famous, he also went more and more wild. One game he kicked a cameraman in the stomach because…well…no one's sure exactly why, actually.

Tiger Takes a Wrong Turn

Tiger WoodsGolf Legend Tiger Woods

Golf is known as a gentleman’s game - most pro golfers would never be considered “wild.” However, Tiger Woods definitely makes the list as a golfer gone wild - he got caught cheating on his wife with several other women.

Baseball Battle

Baseball has had many stories of players gone wild all the way back to “the Babe”, but no other single incident has looked as crazy as this one…

Bonehead Boxer

Mike TysonBoxing Legend Mike Tyson

To end things off, let's take a look at the worse case of an athlete gone wild...Mike Tyson. Mike was one of the biggest stars in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but when he was convicted of rape, he went to prison for 6 years. When he came out, he started boxing again, but this time he also started biting his opponents:
