We Love Lucy Hale!

Twenty-two-year-old Tennessee-native Lucy Hale started her acting career almost by accident when she signed on for a talent-based reality show called American Juniors. Now she’s one of the main attractions on the hit drama Pretty Little Liars. Find out more in her Kidzworld bio!

Memphis Belle

Karen Lucille Hale (or as we know her, Lucy Hale) grew up in Memphis,Tennessee. She knew from a very young age that she was destined to be a star on stage, and on top of that she also loved to sing. By the age of nine, she had already started voice lessons and acting classes to achieve her onstage dream.

American Juniors

When the opportunity to audition for the talent competition American Juniors came along Lucy didn’t hesitate for a second. American Juniors, which aired in 2003 when Lucy was just 14, was a spin-off of American Idol that featured fresh young singing talent, the top five contestants would form a teen singing group. Lucy blew audiences away when she sang the ‘80’s hit “Call Me” on the show, there was no doubt in any audiences members mind that she was meant to be a star! It was the performance that won her a spot in the group. Sadly, the group didn’t last for long, but Lucy was already on her way to making it in showbiz.

Lucy has said about singing: “I love music so much and that kind of takes away from the fact that I am missing out on some things. I have always known that I wanted to be a singer and I knew that meant sacrificing some things for my dream. When I am home I hang out with my friends and go to dances, so I try and partake in some of the activities that I miss out on.”

Sitcom Star

Lucy quickly got tons of offers for small roles on different TV shows, and appeared on the O.C., Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, How I Met Your Mother and also a couple of episodes of Wizards of Waverley Place, acting alongside her boyfriend at the time David Henrie. She landed a permanent role in The Bionic Woman and later in the show Privileged, but unfortunately for Lucy neither show lasted very long. In the meantime, she also got small roles in big films like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and Scream 4. It was only a matter time before the perfect role for this undeniably talented starlet came knocking.

Pretty Little Lucy

In 2009 Lucy got cast as a lead in ABC’s hit drama Pretty Little Liars. The show is based on the book series by author Sara Shepard, and Lucy plays a girl (Aria) who has more than a few secrets. In 2010 she won a Teen Choice Award for her role on the show. So what’s next for Lucy? Rumor has it that she is working on a movie called A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song, where she’ll get to combine her love of acting and singing once more!

It included a lot of mature themes and it really connects with today's older youth. You mean violence wise? Not just that, but the show tells the stories of the characters finding themselves. Take Asami for example. A lot of people have a late relative and another relative involved in some kind of trouble. She had her relationships AND family business to take care of, which relates to some of today's youth who feel like they have the whole world on their shoulders. They're starting to have to take responsibility for things they can hardly manage, and seeing the triumph of a character like Asami is truly inspiring. Her mother's dead, her father's in prison, her boyfriend was stolen from her, and her business nearly failed. But she did not give up, which sends a positive message to today's generation of teens. Mako was not stolen from Asami he just chose Korra and everyone knows that thats what people wanted. As messed up as that sounds its the truth.
