Jul 06, 2011

Want to help the cast of Pretty Little Liars collect school supplies for kids who can’t afford them? Keep reading to learn how you can join the Staples for Students School Supply Drive!

Staples, Notebooks & Pencils! Oh my!

We know that the school year is finally over and the last thing you want to think about is returning in the fall. But there are more than 13 million kids across the U.S. who dread going back to school even more than you do because they can’t afford to buy basic school supplies. Each summer Staples runs its annual Staples for Students School Supply Drive. This year it's recruited the cast from our favorite ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars to help the cause!

Join the Team

Helping the cast of Pretty Little Liars spread the word about Staples for Students and raise money for kids in need is super-easy! All you have to do is visit the Staples for Students School Supply Drive website  and choose your favorite cast member! Do you love Lucy Hale or Troian Bellisario? Do you prefer Ashley Benson or Shay Mitchell? Just click on the team you want to join and they will donate $1 to Staples for Students. The money will go toward purchasing pens, notebooks, binders and more for kids who can’t afford them.

When you join the team you can share the reason you want to help out! Shay Mitchell says, “Some of my high school friends’ families really struggled. This is for them.” Likewise, Lucy Hale says, “Times are tough for a lot of kids in my hometown. This will really help.”

Do you have friends who can’t afford school supplies? Are there struggling families in your community? Helping out has never been so easy, or fun! If you email five friends about the campaign you will even be entered into a contest to win super cool prize packs like school supplies signed by the stars of Pretty Little Liars and a trip for two to Los Angeles!

Drop Off Supplies

If you want to do even more to help Lucy, Shay, Troian and Ashley then you can collect school supplies and drop them off at your local Staples store from now until September 17. You can recruit friends, classmates and family members to help you, or even run your own school supply drive! Need some ideas for things to collect? Think of the supplies – both practical and fun – that you use every day at school. In addition to pens, pencils and binders, kids also need backpacks, lunch bags, pencil crayons, calculators, lined paper and much more. Get creative! Have any other ideas about how you can help out? Leave a comment and let us know how you will be joining the team!
