Georgia peach Lauren Alaina stole hearts and won fans on the latest season of American Idol, and now she has a new album out that reflects her upbeat outlook on life. Find out more about this teen country singer on her way to stardom.

Georgia Girl

Lauren Alaina grew up in Rossville, Georgia. Her mother Kristy is a transcriptionist and her father J.J. is a chemical technician. Music seems to run in the family though - her mother and older brother Tyler both sing, and her father can play several instruments. She grew up listening to country and rock, and when she was just three years old her mother noticed she had talent, hitting every note for the song “When You Were Mine” by the Dixie Chicks.

Karaoke Queen

Lauren first started performing in a children’s choir, and later got into singing karaoke and performing wherever she could.

“I would grab up any opportunity I could, I would go karaoke at any place within a 30 mile radius of where I lived. I would drive an hour just to sing. Any competition I would hear about, I entered.”

At age eight she entered into the Southern Stars pageant, and won, and was asked to perform at the Chatanooga Riverbend Festival. By age nine she had written her first song, “She’s a Miracle,” about her aunt who was in a car crash. On a roll, Lauren then entered the American Model and Talent Competition, and beat out 1,500 other kids and was crowned the winner. Going to Nashville and performing wherever she could, even though she was only 12, was the next step. Little did she know, she would be back in Nashville to sign her very own record deal.

American Idol and Wildflower

As we all know, the next step was auditioning for the 10th season of American Idol and winning over the hearts of fans across America. No one listening to Lauren could deny how talented she was, and as soon as the show wrapped she had a record contract. Her debut album, Wildflower, was released in October.

“I have been able to accomplish so many goals, like being on American Idol and releasing a single and now my first album. I know there is more to come in the future and I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds.”
