America’s Next Top Model: Cycle 17, Episode 12 :: Tyson Beckford

This was an unusual week for the top 4 contestants on America’s Next Top Model Cycle 17. The girls worked with male supermodel Tyson Beckford to promote Tyra’s new book, Modelland.  Episode 12 aired on November 30, 2011.

Writing a Fashion Blog

For the girls’ challenge this week, they each had to travel around the city of Crete and write a fashion blog for the editor of Vogue Italia. The winner - Angelea - received a free trip back to Crete after the competition.

Tyra’s Self-Promotion

Afterwards, the girls teamed up with supermodel stud Tyson Beckford in a moving editorial shoot. Tyra designed this video as a way to promote her new teen fiction novel - Modelland. (Talk about shameless self-promotion!) The entire video was extremely strange, especially during Tyra’s appearance where, out of nowhere, she sucked on Tyson’s thumb. Creepy!

A Tough Elimination

During elimination, the judges had a tough decision to make. They fought tooth and nail over which three girls deserved to move onto the finale. This cycle is all about all-stars - the best of the best - so this elimination was the most challenging one yet. Ultimately, they chose to send Laura home. Allison was also on the chopping block, but her big eyes made her unique, so the judges wanted to give her another chance.

What's not to like? Its got a story, its got artwork which gets better every year and it's a lot of fun. You can get attached to the characters, feel emotion, etc. Its the same with reading a book, watching anime or even a movie. It just happens to be in a different format.  [This may seem weird but when I'm reading a manga I can hear the sounds]

It's easier to relate to a fictional character like naruto, natsu, fluffy, and indigo than it is to relate to real life people
