Pokémon TCG: Tournament Decks Part I

Jan 25, 2012

At the recent Pokémon TCG Tournaments across North America, several decks proved to be more tournament-worthy than others, placing in the top ranks at many tournaments. Below are two of these decks!

Electrical Power

Eelektrik + Magnezone Deck: The Pokémon Eelektrik has an ability called Dynamotor – the ability lets you attach an electric energy card from your discard pile to one of your benched Pokémon once during your turn.  This is very powerful since normally you can only attach one energy card per turn, but with the Dynamotor ability, you can power up your bench Pokémon faster than your opponent! Coupled with Magnezone’s ability to let you draw up to six cards per turn, and attacking for 50 damage per energy card you put into the Lost Zone from any of your Pokémon, this powerful combination proved to be very successful.

Power of the Rainbow

Six Corners Deck: This deck utilizes all the strongest basic Pokémon from different elements. The idea is to attack with Virizion if your opponent is not playing a fire deck, and since you have so many different types of Pokémon in your deck, you can always target your opponent’s weakness! The basic makeup of the deck includes: Virizion - the Grass Pokémon; Reshiram – the Fire Pokemon; Zekrom – the Electric Pokémon; Terrakion – the Fighting Pokémon; Cobalion – the Metal Pokémon; and Kyurem – the Ice Pokémon. Some people also add in Tornadus – the Normal Type Pokémon.
