Cher Lloyd Bio

Jul 17, 2018

English pop singer Cher Lloyd rose to fame when she placed fourth in the seventh season of The X Factor UK, since then the 19-year-old has been working her way to the top of the charts. Find out more in her Kidzworld Bio!

Little Lloyd

Cher Lloyd was born July 28th 1993 to parents Darren and Dinah and grew up in Malvern. She has three younger siblings, Josh Sophie and Rosie and attended Stagecoach, a school focused on theater arts, as well as going on to study at Dyson Perrins Sport College. Cher comes from what she describes as a “gypsy” background.

The X Factor

Cher auditioned for The X Factor for previous seasons, but made it through to the final round on her third try, after celebrity judge Cheryl Cole took a shine to the sassy young singer. She first won over the judges with a rendition of Keri Hilson’s “Turn My Swag On” and also went on to prove she had no problem rapping, picking songs like “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” and “No Diggity,” but it was her singing performances that earned her raves from judges and fans throughout the show. Although she placed fourth in the competition, judge Simon Cowell believed that she had enough talent to make it in the industry and signed her to the label Syco Music, a subsidiary of Sony.

Sticks + Stones

Cher’s first single in the UK was alled “Swagger Jagger” and reached the top of the charts, followed by more successful singles. The full album, Sticks + Stones, reached #4 in the UK as of the beginning of 2012, and Cher made the decision to try and conquer the US market as well with her infectious electro-pop album, and she signed with music producer L.A. Reid to release her album in North America. Her first US single “Want U Back” reached number #5 on the charts. She’s now at work on her sophomore album.

That’s not all that she’s been up to, Cher also signed a modelling contract with Select and in March confirmed her engagement to her boyfriend Craig. Although there was criticism about her getting married so young, Cher has responded to the feedback that in her culture (English gypsy culture) it very normal to be married at a young age, and should have been married already by now!
