Pokémon X and Y Announced!

Jan 10, 2013

Earlier this week, Nintendo announced that they will be releasing the sixth generation of Pokémon, Pokémon X and Pokemon Y, for the 3DS. The game will be released worldwide in October 2013.

New World, New Starters

The new Pokémon area has a very European feel. You will get to choose between three different starters: The grass-type Chespin, the fire-type, Fennekin, and the water-type Froakie. Chespin looks like a hedgehog, Fennekin looks like a fire fox, and Froakie looks like a frog. Rumor has it that each of these starter Pokémon will have a second type, such as rock, flying, and fighting that will make it so that every starter can compete with each other. Check out the video and let us know what you think!

Legendary

Pokémon X and Y will be the first Pokémon game made just for the Nintendo 3DS. The world will be in full 3D and your character can even swing from vines and rollerblade around. All your Pokémon will appear in beautiful 3D. It may be time to start using the 3D mode on the 3DS again!

Of course, no Pokémon is complete without the legendaries. Pokémon X refers to Xerneas (ZURR-nee-us), the elk-like creature with giant antlers and different colored eyes. Pokémon Y refers to Yveltal (ee-VELL-tall), the bird-like Pokémon with blue eyes. The X and Y in the titles may be refering to DNA, especially since Xerneas' antlers look like chromosomes.
