Orlando Bloom's Start

Orlando Bloom was born in Canterbury, England. When he was very young, he realized that all the superheroes he admired, like Superman, were actually played by actors so Bloom decided he wanted to be one too.

Orlando Bloom's Big Break

Orlando Bloom received a lot of attention for a small role he had as a "Rentboy," in the flick, Wilde. Orlando Bloom was only 20 at the time and although he started getting several movie offers after that, Orlando Bloom chose to do theater work and go to school in the UK instead.

Orlando Bloom's Breakthrough Role

The day before Orlando Bloom graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, he got a call from his agent saying he had scored the role of Legolas Greenleaf in the The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Playing the Elf Legolas required Orlando Bloom to wear fake pointy ears, a blonde wig and blue contact lenses. The role also caused a stir in Hollywood, and since then, Orlando Bloom landed a role in Black Hawk Down and starred in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Bloom played the character of Will Turner opposite Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow.

Orlando Bloom's Injuries!

Orlando Bloom was nearly killed a few years ago when he fell three floors from a friend's apartment and broke his back. Doctors were not sure Orlando Bloom would ever walk again, but 12 days after an operation, he walked out of the hospital on crutches. Since then, Orlando Bloom broke a rib falling off a horse on the The Lord of the Rings set. Other injuries Orlando Bloom has incurred include breaking his nose, breaking both his legs, an arm, a wrist, a finger, a toe and cracking his skull three times.

Many of the reviews and critics say it's bad because they are only looking at it from 'comic to movie' perspective. It was still a really cool movie and you should go see it. I'd have to agree with this. The movie itself was great. I think some people looked at it poorly because they were expecting something more similar to the older films or comparing it too hard to the comics. I personally think that it was a great way to reinvent some of the characters.
