Avril Lavigne Concert Review

Call her what you want - poser or punk - Avril Lavigne knows how to wow a crowd. Joined by two chart-topping Canadian bands, Gob and Swollen Members, the last Canadian date of the Try to Shut Me Up tour was a high-energy show from start to finish.
The Sound
Avril Lavigne may not be the ultimate punk icon, but she's no Britney Spears either. Avril didn't pull the normal pop concert lipsync trick and instead belted out every single tune. And man, the girl has a serious set of pipes! Although Avril is clearly as much pop as she is punk, she sang a cover of Green Day's Basket Case that could've hushed the biggest haters.
Glam Girls vs. Punk Princesses
The crowd at the Avril Lavigne show was a sea of ties, sweat bands and Home Hardware Napanee T-shirts. How cool is it to have a girl role model who is more about getting out there and singing in a pair of Dickies, then strutting her stuff and lipsynching in a skin-tight half top? Pretty cool!
