Scooby Doo! Night of 100 Frights Xbox Review

That's right, Scooby has finally arrived for the Xbox and those fans of the classic cartoon won't be disappointed. From the spooky soundtrack to the cartoon effects, (let's not forget that laugh track) this one guarantees a good time. And, if you're hungry, there's a Scooby Snack or two...

The story in Scooby Doo! Night of a 100 Frights sets up quickly and keeps the action moving. The gang from Mystery Inc., (Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne), are heading out to visit a friend who needs their help. It seems that the famous inventor, Alexander Graham, has mysteriously disappeared, and it's up to Scooby Doo and the gang to find out what happened. Unfortunately for Scooby (that's you), everybody else disappears too, leaving him (you) alone to solve the mystery, rescue the gang, and unmask the Mastermind.

Scooby Doo! Night of a 100 Frights - ZOINKS!!

There are 12 levels (with about 80 sublevels) of adventure with 20 different monsters, (everything from vampires to zombies to werewolves), all of whom are from the cartoon. And that is exactly how this one plays - just like the cartoon. It's fun, super-easy and totally cheesy. Your basic run, jump and slammo-combo!

Most of the action comes from finding Alexander Graham's inventions located in and around the manor. The jumping springs are awesome and the old lampshade on the head move is outta sight! (Get it Scoob? Like Outta sight? Oh never mind, let's grab a sandwich...). And speaking of food, you are going to have to eat a gazillion Scooby Snacks to keep up your strength and keep Scooby's fear factor low. Big Hint - the jump spring invention is your best pal. It's great for leaping out of danger, over monsters. (Try it on the spiders and rats for bonuses!)

Scooby Doo! Night of a 100 Frights - JINKIES!

The biggest problem with the game is that it the challenge factor remains low throughout. That's great when you start off, but by the end you'll want something more. Too bad it never comes. Also, the previews for the next Scooby Doo video game are a total waste of time, and the next game in the series (Scooby Doo's Mystery Mayhem) looks better than 100 Frights.

Scooby Snacks:

  • Buried treasure; warp zones; the armor disguise.
  • Monster gallery.
  • The bunny slippers and tire swings are wicked funny.

    Scooby Snags:

  • Not difficult enough.
  • Previews.

Scooby Doo! Night of a 100 Frights Age Rating: Everyone.
