Get ready for some Disney fun with these two newly released DVDs - Alice in Wonderland: The Masterpiece Edition and The Lion King 1 1/2. These Disney DVDs will knock your socks off!

The folks at Disney have been keeping busy and are bringing a couple of the coolest movies to your home entertainment center. This time around you've got the chance to pick up an old favorite, the Lewis Carroll classic Alice in Wonderland: Masterpiece Edition, and one you haven't seen before, The Lion King 1 1/2, starring Timon and Pumbaa. Find out what Kidzworld has to say about these two new Disney DVDs.

The Lion King 1 1/2 Disney DVD

You fell in love with them in The Lion King, but how much do you really know about that dynamic duo, Timon and Pumbaa? Well, with The Lion King 1 1/2, you'll find out exactly where these two crazy kids came from, and how they really felt about Simba heading back to challenge his nasty old uncle, Scar.

The Lion King 1 1/2 DVD - You Don't Know the 1/2 of It

You're going to be laughing out loud throughout The Lion King 1 1/2. Unlike the original Lion King, this flick focuses entirely on the crazy antics of Timon and Pumbaa. The movie starts off with Timon getting in trouble with his fellow meerkats. Tired of always being the outsider, Timon decides to strike out on his own. On his way to find eternal happiness, Timon runs into the wise old monkey, Rafiki, and then later on, Pumbaa. There's no gushy love story, no dramatic deaths, just good old fun with The Lion King 1 1/2. You'll also be introduced to some fun new characters like Timon's mom (voiced by Julie Kavner aka Marge Simpson) and Uncle Max (voiced by Jerry Stiller, Ben Stiller's real-life dad).

The Lion King 1 1/2 DVD - Special Features

Not only are you getting a sneak peak into what went down before Timon and Pumbaa met Simba, you're also getting a ton of super-cool features with this DVD. Test your jungle know-how with "Who Wants to be King of the Jungle?" or head out on a jungle safari with Timon, Pumbaa, Uncle Max and Timon's mom. Whatever you choose with The Lion King 1 1/2, you're in for a wild ride!

Many of the reviews and critics say it's bad because they are only looking at it from 'comic to movie' perspective. It was still a really cool movie and you should go see it. I'd have to agree with this. The movie itself was great. I think some people looked at it poorly because they were expecting something more similar to the older films or comparing it too hard to the comics. I personally think that it was a great way to reinvent some of the characters.

"It's so hard to talk when you want to k-ll yourself. That's above and beyond everything else, and it's not a mental complaint-it's a physical thing, like it's physically hard to open your mouth and make the words come out. They don't come out smooth and in conjunction with your brain the way normal people's words do; they come out in chunks as if from a crushed-ice dispenser; you stumble on them as they gather behind your lower lip. So you just keep quiet.” Ned Vizzini, "It's Kind of a Funny Story"

“Isn't there something in living dangerously?' There's a great deal in it,' the Controller replied. 'Men and women must have their adrenals stimulated from time to time.' What?' questioned the Savage, uncomprehending. It's one of the conditions of perfect health. That's why we've made the V.P.S. treatments compulsory.' V.P.S.?' Violent Passion Surrogate. Regularly once a month. We flood the whole system with adrenin. It's the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconvenience.' But I like the inconveniences.' We don't,' said the Controller. 'We prefer to do things comfortably.' But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.' In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence. I claim them all,' said the Savage at last. Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”
