Bill Nye - A Geek God is Born
Bill Nye's earliest childhood memory is throwing a rubber band-powered
airplane, called the
Sky Streak, and trying to figure out how to make it turn. So began Bill's life-long
love of physics. After he left high school, Bill Nye studied mechanical engineering at
Cornell University. He then went on to put his knowledge to work. Bill Nye did tons of cool stuff before he became America's favorite science guy, like designing
flight control systems for Boeing and consulting on
fighter jet designs. He still does these little "side projects" today.

Bill Nye began his transformation from
scientist to
science guy when he won a
Steve Martin look-alike contest. His win egged him on to try his hand at
comedy at night, while working at as
an engineer at Boeing during the day. Eventually he managed to combine his humor and love of science - voila, a science guy was born.
