The Day After Tomorrow DVD Review

Environmentalists have been warning us for years that if we don't stop polluting, we will destroy the planet. In The Day After Tomorrow, the earth is fighting back!

The Day After Tomorrow - Scary Weather

If you thought movies like Twister and Deep Impact made The Weather Channel seem scary, you won't believe the crazy stuff going down in this flick. The world is reverting to the ice age, and there's a surprising culprit - global warming. You see, the polar ice caps have melted from the heat caused by all our pollution and now all that fresh water is disrupting the ocean temperatures. This results in global storms, flooding like you've never seen and ridiculously low temperatures. In the midst of all this drama, a climatologist (Dennis Quaid) tries to figure out a way to save the world and his young son who is trapped in frozen-over New York. (Jake Gyllenhaal).

The Day After Tomorrow - Mostly Sunny with Clear Skies

This movie is 'da bomb as far as special effects go - a cargo ship floats through Manhattan, LA is taken out by tornadoes, it snows in New Delhi and giant hail descends on Tokyo. What more could you ask for? The flick is jam-packed with action and dramatic events and it gives you a first-hand look at why those "crazy environmentalists" might not be so crazy after all. Oh, and Jake Gyllenhaal is a total hottie.

The Day After Tomorrow - Thundershower Warning in Affect

Sure the effects kick butt, but sometimes the over-the-top drama is a bit too cheesy to take. Like most action flicks, this film is heavy on the effects and light on the acting ability, so be prepared for a few eye-rolling moments. Also, the movie shows some pretty serious stuff happening all over the world, but at the end you only find out what happens to the Americans. Did all the all the Canadians die? What happened to the British royal family? No one seems to care.

The Day After Tomorrow - DVD Features

Find out exactly how the makers of The Day After Tomorrow made New York look like it had been overtaken by Mother Nature with over an hour of behind-the-scenes footage. Not only that but you'll also get commentary by the director, writers, director of photography and the editor! Definitely a disc for movie buffs.

The Day After Tomorrow - The Final Verdict

If you're a special effects buff, this is the film for you. However, if you're thinking that the environmentalist theme is going to make this flick "deep" or "arty" you're barking up the wrong old-growth tree.
