Diddy Kong Racing DS – Nintendo DS Game Review

Race with <b>Diddy</b> and friends in <b>cars</b>, <b>planes</b> and more with tons of tracks and <b>multiplayer</b> modes! Here’s Gary’s <b>game review.</b>

Diddy Kong’s new adventure is a fistfull of kart racing for the Nintendo DS! He’s chillin’ when he gets a letter – the evil pig wizard, Wizpig, is rampaging across Timber island and Diddy’s friends need his help. Before you can say banana split, it’s Diddy to the rescue in a high-speed adventure, with a little help from you. Here’s the 411 on Diddy Kong Racing DS with Gary’s game review.

Diddy Kong Racing DS – Driving School

The Adventure mode lands you on Timber island and hooks you up with the blue elephant wizard, Taj, who shows you the basics. You can drive around and find all kinds of racetracks to challenge your skills at driving a car, plane or even a hovercraft. Each race is loaded with crazy power-ups and winning earns you a balloon, the more balloons you have the more courses you unlock! The real fun is in the multiplayer racing though – you can use the DS’ wireless connection to get up to eight players in a single race, and you only need one copy of Diddy Kong Racing! Plus, you can play online with up to six people!

Diddy Kong Racing DS – Fast Fun!

Three different vehicles, tons of tracks to race on, boss races, wacky power-ups galore and you can even upgrade your fave vehicle for more racing power! The real fun is the multiplayer though, hooking up with all your friends for head-to-head racing mayhem is a blast!

Diddy Kong Racing DS – Total Wipeout

Someone needs to give that Taj dork a wedgie for giving you all those challenges to complete before you can unlock half the tracks. On top of that, there’s this really awkward overhead driving mode where you have to draw your path with the stylus and spin a wheel to speed up. But it doesn’t work, it’s just frustrating! You’ll also spend way too much time racing through the same track, or against the same boss, over and over again.

Diddy Kong Racing DS – How Cool?

The multiplayer options almost make it worth grabbing all by themselves. But, there’s some serious stupidity involved in about half the game that makes Diddy Kong’s new kart racing game for the Nintendo DS a bargain-bin kind of game.

Tons of courses, vehicles and racing modes!

Up to 7 friends can play, without needing a copy of the game.

You can race online - but watch out for creeps!

Diddy Kong Racing DS Thumbs Down:

Overhead driving mode is a pain!

Pre-race boosting = finger-twisting frustration.

Too many challenges!

Useless instructions.
