Become the newest duelist at the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy in this DS game! We review the card game dueling action.

The Duel Academy is the hottest place in the world for Yu-Gi-Oh! duelists from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX cartoon TV show. It’s where Jaden Yuki and all the greatest players learn the skills to become a world famous professional. The Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller video game for Nintendo DS lets you join the Duel Academy as a new student and put your dueling skills to the test against the characters from the show as you prove that you’re a master duelist. Here’s Gary’s Yu-Gi-Oh! game review!

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller - Freshman Duelist!

As a new duelist, you start by creating a duelist character - complete with freaky hair - then you grab a Starter Deck and get going! Each day you attend classes, then duel to earn points to get more cards. After a while you start hearing spirit voices and end up on a crazy adventure! You can also duel your friends with the DS’ wireless connection, and even duel online!

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller - Dueling Action

Bonus cards! Each copy of this game scores you Brain Crusher, Hunter Owl and Masked Chopper cards for the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game. Plus, it’s a great way to get some dueling in when you can’t find a friend to play with - there are tons of online duelists so you’ll always be able to find a duel!

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller - Dueling Downers

The biggest problem with Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller is that there’s no tutorial and the instructions are useless, so new players will have a rough time. It also takes forever to get good cards for your deck, unless you use this awesome game cheat!

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller - Elite Blue or Slifer Slacker?

Unless you’re a hardcore Yu-Gi-Oh! fan who already knows how to duel, this game is rough. Once you get started though, the adventure is fun, the controls are solid, and you can do a lot of online dueling without having to worry about online freaks.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller Thumbs Up:

  • Tons of cards to collect.
  • Duel the characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX TV show!
  • Duel with friends, or online!
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller Thumbs Down:

  • Confusing to play and the instructions are useless.
  • It takes forever to get good cards!
  • The tests are hard!
  • Without this game cheat, the rating drops to three.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller Game Rating: 4

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Spirit Caller is available for: Nintendo DS.
