Jeannie Ortega :: My First Concert (pg. 2)

Apr 24, 2007

Sindy: So do you hear any Backstreet Boy influences in your album that came out last year, No Place Like BKLYN?
Jeannie Ortega: Musically, no not really. My music is just very different. But I was a fan, so I watched them really grow as a group and learned about that progression from them. My album is really my own baby, but I learned about passion from them, definitely.

Sindy: So can you tell me a little about your upcoming independent film, Indelible?
Jeannie Ortega: That was a great experience. It was shot in Harlem, and I play one of the supporting roles. I play the lead character's girlfriend. He faces this really crazy life-threatening disease. Basically, it's just about him having a dream, but also having to deal with this thing that he's diagnosed with, and how he overcomes. I'm just by his side the whole time, and we're both singers at a musical school. I guess we're just living our dream together - just about young love.

Sindy: Can you tell me about the fragrance you're promoting, 100% Love? Jeannie Ortega: It's amazing. I feel really good about that. Not only does it smell good, and a great opportunity for me, but it's also for a great cause. Some of the proceeds go to World Vision, which is an organization that sponsors children throughout the world that are in need of clean water, food, books, clothes - all that sort of thing. It's just great because, not only does it donate money to this cause, but it also teaches the teens that are buying the fragrance how to care about someone else - how to give back.

Sindy: That's really cool. One last question - what was the last concert you went to?
Jeannie Ortega: Umm, recent concert? Uh...man, I need to get out more! (Laughs) I went to an Antigone Rising concert recently. They're an all-girl rock group signed to the Starbucks music label. So people who go to Starbucks will know who they are.

Sindy: Great. Thanks for chatting with us Jeannie.
Jeannie Ortega: Thank you, it was a pleasure.
