Ben Roethlisberger - Ohio UpbringingBen's life started off rough with his parents divorcing when he was a toddler, and his mom passing away in a car accident when he was eight. As a kid in tiny Findlay, Ohio, he was a better basketball player than he was a football player. It wasn't until his senior year in high school that Ben showed what a natural quarterback he was. In his first start as a senior for Findlay High School, he threw for six touchdowns. He ended the year passing over 4,000 yards and 54 touchdowns. His success continued at Miami of Ohio University, finishing up with an All-American career.

That summer, Ben was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. Luckily, he was able to recover from his injuries and play another good year in 2006. That season, he passed for a career high of 3,513 yards. Despite the good numbers, Ben failed to lead the Steelers to the playoffs.
