Bleach: The Blade of Fate :: DS Game Review

The Bleach anime is about Ichigo Kurosaki - a fifteen year-old who can see ghosts and who suddenly becomes a powerful Soul Reaper. Now it's up to him to help ghosts into the next life and battle the gruesome Hollows. He has some help from Rukia, a weakened Soul Reaper who gave him his power, Kon the stuffed lion and other characters too. And, with Bleach: The Blade of Fate for Nintendo DS, you can control 28 of the characters from the anime in 2D battles! Here's Gary's Bleach game review.
What's Going On?
Bleach is a 2D
fighting game starring the characters from the
anime. You can play a single-player
adventure, but the real action is from the insane variety of
multiplayer battles you can have with up to
four players! You can jump around the multi-level battlefields and pull
insane combos, plus there's a
card system that lets you
power-up your battle.
Soul Reaping Action!
Wow. For starters, it's
easy to play, it's also loaded with excellent combos and seriously smart action. Not only is the fighting good, there's lots of it! 28 characters and
tons of modes, plus the card system and more multiplayer options than you can shake a
giant sword at means you'll be having fun for months with this game. Especially since you only need one copy for your
friends to join in!
Soul Sucking Misery
There are only two things to complain about in this game. The first is that the AI can turn around and clobber you with
cheesy combos every now and then. The second is that you have to
re-download the whole game each time you have a
multiplayer battle, even if you just played with the same person!
Wow or Ow?
If you're a
Bleach fan you need to quit reading and go
get a copy, now. If you aren't a Bleach fan, it's still an
incredibly awesome fighting game with tons of options, strategy and characters. It also has downloadable multiplayer so your
friends don't even need a copy and internet multiplayer so you can challenge people all over the world. It's packed
full of fun and is a seriously
sweet game!
Thumbs Up:
Easy to play, with lots of combos to master.
Lots of characters.
Tons of game modes.
Hordes of multiplayer options.
Thumbs Down:
Some stupid combos can mess you up.
Re-downloading the game for each multiplayer battle is annoying.
