Bob Burnquist was born in
Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 10, 1976. He first started
skateboarding when he was 11 years old. There weren't very many
skateparks in Brazil at that time but skateboarding was still really popular.
Bob Burnquist developed his new
unique skating style on the streets of Sao Paulo and turned pro when he was 14.
Bob Burnquist Becomes Big
When
Bob Burnquist was 18, he went to the 1995
Slam City Jam in
Vancouver, Canada. Burnquist wasn't well known back then but he amazed everyone with his style of
switch-stance (backwards) skateboarding and creativity in the half-pipe. Bob won first place in the competition's
vert event and changed the face of
vert skateboarding.
Bob Burnquist Becomes Even Bigger
Bob Burnquist is now one of the biggest names in
skateboarding. Burnquist has appeared in tons of
skate videos and is a featured performer on the
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater video game series. He's won dozens of medals in vert skating at the
X Games and
Gravity Games and is constantly developing new death-defying
skateboard stunts. Bob Burnquist will be competing at the
2003 X Games in Los Angeles and will be one of the featured athletes at the
X Games Xperience at Disney's
California Adventure Park.

Bob Burnquist's girlfriend is Jen O'Brien who is also a pro skateboarder. They have a daughter named Lotus.
Bob Burnquist is a vegetarian and prides himself on eating healthy. He owns an organic food company called Burnquist Organics and refuses to endorse any junk food products - even though many companies have offered him big bucks.
Bob Burnquist has citizenship in both Brazil and the United States. His mother is Brazilian and his father is from California.
