Freaky Friday DVD Review
Courtesy of Buena VistaThey say it's every teenage girl's worst nightmare, but would turning into your mother really be that bad? Lindsay Lohan finds out in the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday. Is this Disney classic freaky-good or a freaky-flop?
Freaky Friday - The Swap
The newest Freaky Friday remake is based on the 1976
Disney original but has been updated for a
new generation. Instead of focusing on
housewife comedy, this time around both mother (
Jamie Lee Curtis) and daughter (
Lindsay Lohan) are empowered
21st century women. Mom, Tess Coleman, is a pyschiatrist planning her second marriage, while her daughter Anna is obsessed with
her music,
image and boys. Neither realizes what the other is going through until a fateful
fortune cookie enters their lives.
Freaky Friday - Fortune Cookie Fun
If you're thinking of passing this movie up because it's a
Disney flick, you should reconsider.
Freaky Friday is full of
laughs as Anna and Tess live through the day as one another. Jamie Lee Curtis is such a convincing
15 year-old, you'd swear the
body swap actually happened! Plus, if you're a
Gilmore Girls fan (or just a fan of
hotties,) you're gonna be happy to know that
Chad Michael Murray plays Anna's
love interest, Jake.
Freaky Friday - Body Swap Blues
There's not a whole lot to
complain about when takin' in Freaky Friday. You might think the
story line's a little predictable but overall there's enough
twists and turns to keep ya interested. It has a
great cast and an even cooler
soundtrack - featuring bands like
Lillix,
Simple Plan and even has a track with
Lindsay Lohan at the mic.
Freaky Friday DVD Features
So just when you thought
Freaky Friday couldn't get any better, it hits DVD chalk-full of fun
extras. You can flick through cut
scenes and even check out the alternate Freaky Friday ending that didn't make it to the
theaters! And if you dig
watchin' Lindsey and her pals rock out in this fun film, you'll love the
music videos that are included on the Freaky Friday DVD. This disc is definitely worth
your allowance!
