Loving the Skin You're In

Dec 27, 2006

With the academy awards here, no doubt the focus turns to who looks like what, who is wearing what and so on. The question is DO WE REALLY CARE??? Personally, I mean if you are livin' large as a big celeb, you're probably thinking you're really cool - and I am happy for you. But the reality is, you don't have to be famous to love the skin you are in.

Check Yourself

Take a minute. Look up and down and all around. What do you notice the most about your skin? Is it the color, the texture or the clothes covering it? Fact time. Did you know that your skin is your body's biggest organ (and I don't mean the music-making kind.) Okay it is pretty gross, but think about it. Check out all the ways we use our skin. We dress it, put make-up on it, clean it, spray it...you get the picture.

Skin Abuse?

We also bake our skin in the sun, put tobacco and other chemicals into it, pierce it and color it permanently (tattoo me, tattoo you?) Whazzup with that? Your heart is an organ, but would you tattoo Mom on it if you could? No.

What's your Color?

The crazy thing is that sometimes we let the color of someone's skin change how we look at him or her and how we feel about them. Admit it, you've done it before. Fact time, 99 per cent of us humanoids have the same DNA, it is only that 1 per cent that makes us who we are, brown, black, white or yellow. So we are more alike than different. Remember that.

The Catwalk

By now you're thinking, is she postal? What is she talkin' about? Well baby get this: The world is your stage. Celebs may have their fifteen minutes of fame, but you are a star 24/7.
