If you’re an American, the World Cup in South Africa might leave you a little bitter today. The Americans were robbed by a disallowed goal called by the referee in a crucial match against Slovenia, the group leader.
As predicted, it was rough… it was low-scoring… and would you believe it came down to two perfect free throws by Slovenian Sasha Vujacic at the end of game 7 to secure back-to-back NBA Final Championships for the Los Angeles Lakers
Day 6 ended the first round of the World Cup in South Africa. There was a shocking upset, a silencing of the vuvuzelas, and another game full of chances but little goals to show for it.
It was the first time you heard complete silence at the World Cup. The vuvuzela horn, which had previously been a non-stopping sound of South Africa, had stopped. And you could have guessed someone had been murdered on the soccer field to stun the fans… and quite frankly it was murder… murder of the Bafana Bafana
Game 7 here we come! It’s the most exciting possible scenario and the LA Lakers and Boston Celtics are headed for it. It could come down to one last shot at the buzzer that could decide who will get to raise the Larry O’Brien trophy in celebration of these NBA Finals.
The group of death was in action during Day 5 of the World Cup in South Africa. The games were all pretty close. Brazil narrowly beat North Korea, and there were no goals in the tie between Portugal and the Ivory Coast.
