Freddy Adu Biography

Fabulous Freddy Adu has gone from soccer prodigy to soccer superstar while playing for DC United of Major League Soccer. Kidzworld checks out the teenage soccer star who's been dating JoJo and getting ready to kick off the 2006 MLS season with DC United.

Freddy Adu Bio - Child Prodigy

Freddy Adu was born in Ghana in 1989 and his family moved to the United States when he was eight years old. His ball handling abilities and overall soccer sense made him one of the world's most sought after players by the time he was just 13, when Inter Milan offered Freddy's family $750,000 to sign him. But Freddy's family and his coaches said no. Freddy wanted to stay in America to be closer to his family and avoid the extra pressure that would come from playing in Europe.

Freddy Adu Bio - American Soccer Star

After helping the United States to advance to the Under-17 World Championship, Freddy Adu became the youngest person to play for a US national soccer team and was labelled the next American soccer superstar. In January 2006, Adu made his debut with the US National Team in a game against Canada. He may also play for the United States at the 2006 World Cup of soccer in Germany in June.

Freddy Adu - Major League Soccer

Besides playing on the international soccer stage, Freddy Adu has become one of the biggest names in Major League Soccer. He was just 14 when he played in his first professional game with DC United and he helped them win the 2004 MLS Cup the same year. Adu played as both a forward and a midfielder with DC United in 2005, although he missed several games while playing with the Under-20 US National Team. While Adu continues to improve his game at the professional level, he has also been criticized for complaining about the amount of playing time he gets.

Cheerleaders might just "hype up the team", but it still deserves to be called a sport. They're throwing each other in the air, performing possibly dangerous stunts, not even mentioning that they have to wear those skimpy outfits in freezing weather.

So it's not really a sport. It still looks fun though. Actually, cheerleaders do compete. There are cheer competitions.  Agree! 9o9
