Star Wars: The Force Unleashed :: Wii Game Review

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you become Darth Vader's secret apprentice - Galen Marek, Starkiller, and go screaming across the galaxy, kicking butt with a fist-full of Force powers and a lightsaber. Kicking off with a creepy intro where you play as Darth Vader, clobber Wookies and discover your apprentice, The Force Unleashed gets going fast. But, is it fun? Here's Gary's Star Wars game review.

Heroes, Villains and Lightsabers

As Darth Vader's secret apprentice, you sneak around the galaxy in your Rogue Shadow spaceship with your pilot Juno Eclipse and droid PR0XY. From hunting down Jedi to improving your skills, you battle your way through levels with incredible Force powers at your side. You can spit lightning, throw almost anything around, knock things flying with a blast of Force - and there are special moves too! Not only that, there's an incredible story full of great characters that lets you decide whether to become a Sith villain or change and become a heroic Jedi. The Wii version of The Force Unleashed also has a dueling mode where you and a friend can unlock and battle with dozens of Star Wars characters.

Powerful This Game is...

Wow. This game gives you a ton of ways to knock things around like a maniac with a wrecking ball! You get to fling bad guys around, pull crazy stunts, slam vehicles into walls and customize your lightsaber to power-up your skills. Plus, boss fights with other Jedi are epic smashfests! You'll be flinging each other all over the place and using special dueling battles to beat their lightsaber and Force-using skills. If that's not enough, the story is incredible and a great reason to play the game at least twice. Finally, the dueling mode is awesome - letting you and a friend battle in famous places across the Star Wars galaxy.

Weaknesses

Even with all the awesome, there are some flaws to this game. Using all your Force powers takes some skill, otherwise you'll get hammered by enemy Jedi. And, Lightsaber attacks are weak - compared to blasting stuff with the Force it feels like you're whomping your enemies with a NERF bat... Finally, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions have no dueling mode!

Padawan or Master?

This game rocks. It's packed with incredible Force attacks, a great story and tons of cool characters. The Wii version also has the dueling mode that's a ton of fun all by itself! If you like Star Wars, do yourself a favor and grab this game. Plus, the Star Wars Miniatures: The Force Unleashed game lets you bring the fun to life with the characters from the video game!

  • The Force is strong!
  • An incredible story with great heroes and villains.

  • Thumbs Down:

  • Game Rating:

Available for: DS, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.
