Star Wars is back with its first-ever animated feature on DVD: Star Wars The Clone Wars. If you’re a Star Wars fan, you probably saw this movie as a preview of the TV show that aired back in the fall. The film is packed with plenty of your fave Star Wars characters, including Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku and some new faces as well. The movie focuses on the Clone Wars, bridging the huge gap of events between Star Wars Episode II as well as Episode III.

A lot of the movie revolves around Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who are assigned by Yoda to try and rescue the son of Jabba the Hutt. You see, the jedi need Jabba, who’s in full control of all of the supply routes needed for success in the war.

Get ready to see lots of familiar faces (Yoda, Darth Sidious, Dooku, etc.) and to meet new characters, like the padawan of Anakin Skywalker Ahskoa Tano. Also prep yourself for an animation packed with impressive action sequences and plenty of large-scale battles with tons of special effects and explosions… yeah, all of that good stuff.

While the movie moved away slightly from what all you hard-core fans are used to seeing in traditional Star Wars films. But all in all, this is a good-quality first animated feature for the franchise, and hopefully will not be the last. Just don’t expect it to be perfectly aligned with the actual Star Wars saga.
