Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Stardust Accelerator World Championship Tournament 2009 :: DS Game Review

Duel Monsters, the card game that the characters of the Yu-Gi-Oh cartoon series play, is a great collectible card game on its own. It has lots of strategy and allows for a lot of twists in every game. For fans that love the card game, but cannot buy more than a few boosters and a starter pack for whatever reason, the video game versions of Duel Monsters is great. Not only does it only cost as much as a starter kit plus some booster yugioh packs, but you can also enter the code of yugioh cards you own in real life to remake your own deck in the game.

Each new version of World Championship Tournament improves the game's presentation and organization, making the game easier and more fun to use and play. As well, each update brings in new Yu-gi-oh cards and new rules.

Ahead of the Pack

Stardust Accelerator WCT 2009 continues this tradition with new Synchro monsters and Turbo Dueling. As well, it features great animation, making the player feel like they are dueling in the anime show. There is now a story mode as well as the WCT mode, allowing you to enjoy the card game on its own or with something at stake.

Not in a Real Rush to Change

At the same time, however, the changes made to the base game is not that much. Duel Monsters is still a very confusing game to newcomers and, even though there is a tutorial in the game, it can still be hard to get into the flow of things.

Racing elements have been added to the story portion of the game, which is a nice addition, but doesn't play well enough to improve the game overall.

4 out of 5D's

Luckily, the base game of Duel Monsters is still very enjoyable, which makes this game highly recommended to Yu-Gi-Oh and CCG fans. The yugioh game comes with online play and wi-fi, which ensures that you will always have someone new and challenging to duel against. Don't worry if you have really good cards in real life, they won't go to waste! Not only will you be able to enter the code and buy them in the in-game shop, but the game comes with three real-life cards that you can add to your collection!
