Kristen Stewart Biography

Jun 21, 2009

Born: April 9, 1990
Where: Los Angeles, California

Edward's Leading Lady

Love her or loathe her, Kristen Stewart is here to stay. Kristen garners the scorn of millions of jealous Twilight fans who envy her lofty position as Edward’s leading lady, Bella, but Kristen is no new face to the acting scene. She was discovered at the age of eight when an agent caught her singing performance at her elementary school Christmas play. Her parents were initially reluctant to let her work in the industry, but Kristen was quick to convince them: “I guess I was steadfast,” she says. .

Steadfast Stewart

Her debut role wasn’t very impressive—she played “Girl Waiting to get a Drink” in the Disney Channel movie, The Thirteenth Year, but three years later, Kristen hit the big time with roles in the serious adult drama, The Safety of Objects and the claustrophobic thriller, Panic Room. In 2004, Kristen’s character, Maddy Phillips, tries to rob a bank alongside Corbin Bleu and Max Theiriot in her first kids movie role in Catch That Kid and in 2005, she acted in Zathura, as Lisa, the older sister whose brothers play a magical board game that hurtles their house into space.

Rocker Chic

But it was her role on Twilight that catapulted Kristen onto the pages of celebrity gossip mags and onto the coveted Hollywood A list. She’s wrapping up filming of New Moon in Vancouver then it’s off to shoot The Runaways, a bio-pic of the 70’s rock band and its infamous frontwoman, Joan Jett. Kristen got to meet Joan Jett on New Year’s Eve: “We were in a little city in Washington and she played through midnight,” Kristen says. “And then we spent, like, hours into the morning talking.” There are even rumors that Kristen will sing in the movie!

Fun Facts

  • Kristen wrote the song “Tracy’s Song” for the soundtrack to her movie Into the Wild.
  • Her natural eye color is green but she wears brown contact lenses to play Bella.
  • Her favorite bands are Green Day, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Cream and U2.
  • She once said Robert Pattinson was so into his character while filming the Twilight that he convinced himself he was in love with her and proposed her one day.
  • Kristen has appeared in a commercial for Porsche.

Kristen Says

"Wearing pajamas for four months was weird, but very comfortable."
(on her wardrobe for the movie Panic Room).

"I don't want to make movies for kids, and I don't want to make movies for adults either."

"Oh, I don't know. Anything that's beat up. I kind of like to look like a hobo." (when asked about her favourite fashion designer)

"I'd like to. But that's definitely not all I want to do. It's not the most intellectually stimulating thing that you can possibly do. I want to go to college. I'm going to take four years off. I don't want to miss that. I want to be a writer. I think that'd be awesome." (on pursing acting as a career).
