Xtreme Quotes from Xtreme Athletes

What motivates a BMX master to drop off a 3,500 foot cliff? What goes through a rider's mind before he does a backflip on his motorbike? Check out these extreme quotes from famous extreme athletes.

Just For Fun

"Skateboarding is for fun - that's why people do it a lot. Not to be on the X Games or the Gravity Games but because they love to do it. If you want to make lots of money, go be a snowboarder, golfer or tennis player 'cause skateboarding is not the place for it." - A quote from Andy MacDonald, skateboarder.

"Some people say I'm known for my Mctwists but other people know me as that little brat who grabs his nuts or flips you off." - Trevor Andrews, snowboarder.

Fear and Motivation

"If you want to experience all of the successes and pleasure in life, you have to be willing to accept all the pain and failure that comes with it." - A famous quote by Mat Hoffman, BMX rider.

"Hopefully somewhere along the line I can motivate somebody to be whatever they want to be in life. I feel like that's my whole mission is just to psych people to believe in themselves." - Rick Thorne, BMX rider.

"It scared me to death. It just doesn't make sense. You're still on your motorcycle at the height of the jump going 'this thing's not going to rotate around.' I knew it was possible. It just doesn't seem logical." - Travis Pastrana, motorcross rider, quoted after trying his first backflip at the X Games.

Girl Power

"I hate it when guys say girls can't do things. That is so out of my head now. Actually, that is what pushes me to be better. I just want to show that girls can do anything they want to." - Fabiola Da Silva, inline skater and X Games champion.

"A guy friend of mine told me skysurfing was sketchy, so it just made me want to do it more." - Tanya Garcia-O'Brien, skysurfer.

I'm in marching band, and I don't consider it a sport.Yes, I'll admit that marching band can be physically demanding, but it isn't a sport. Marching band is nothing like soccer, lacrosse, rugby, tennis, boxing, etc. Comparing marching band to a sport like rubgy, hockey, cross country, or whatever is just... kind of ridiculous. You can argue that it does require some physical-ness, which it does. But it's just walking in tempo. It does involve some endurance to stand out in the sun and play an instrument for a while, but doing so isn't really that hard.
