Dastan was just a young orphan living on the streets until the King of Persia witnessed Dastan save another young boy from certain death. The King rewarded Dastan’s bravery by adopting him as his own son.

Brotherly Love

Years pass and Dastan becomes a headstrong young man loyal to his family. Dastan joins his two brothers, Garsiv and Tus and his uncle Nizam to lead an army into the Holy City of Alamut. A spy told them Alamut has been secretly making weapons for Persia’s enemies, so the three brothers invade the city on the advice of their uncle.

The Dagger Of Time

In truth, Alamut is a peaceful city. The Persian army was misled—there are no weapons in Alamut. The beautiful Princess Tamina is the guardian of an ancient dagger that allows its owner the power to go back in time. Someone organized the invasion so they could steal the Dagger of Time. But who?

Dastan Is Framed

The King of Persia comes to Alamut to see his sons after battle, but when he’s mysteriously murdered, the blame is put on Dastan and he must flee the city. Dastan and Princess Tamina must discover who is behind the murder and find a way to stop them from using the Dagger of Time to change the past and unleash a giant sandstorm that will destroy the world.

The Bottom Line

The Prince of Persia mixes the secret tunnels and ancient gadgets of The Mummy with the rooftop acrobatics and flirty banter of Disney’s Aladdin. If the movie feels like a video game that’s because it was based on one!

Jake Gyllenhaal might be a strange choice for a Persian prince, but his well placed smirks and fancy footwork will win you over. Creepy assassins called the Hassansins track Dastan through the desert. They unleash trained sand snakes and lethal fighting skills in some action-packed scenes so watch out for them. Check out The Sands of Time for some great action shots and a wild romp through the ancient streets of Persia.
