Did you know that just about 40 years ago, during the 1970s, there was a revolution for women’s rights. Before this time, women were not given the equal rights as men to participate in many events and physical activities… including sports. That means men have had a pretty good head start at being better than women at sports.

Bigger But Not Better
Men actually have bigger bodies than women… well most of them anyways. So naturally men have bigger muscles and that is another huge advantage that men have over women in sports.

You are living proof that times are changing! 50 years ago, when it was strange for a girl to play sports, it would be very rare for a girl to be the fastest person in her school. But now that it is perfectly normal for a girl to run and play sports, so girls like you have a chance to be the fastest.
Head to Head
Wouldn’t it be cool if one day a woman beats the World Record for the fastest “Man” in the 100 m or 200 m sprint. A lot of people say it’s impossible, but women today are running faster than the World Record set in 1950… I think you should go for it and then the boys at school would keep quiet!
