Hey Coach,
I am a girl who skates. Sometimes I think about it being boyish from what others say. This is why I am scared to go to a skatepark. Do you think I should try out a skatepark?

Hey Volcom180,
Jump on your board and get your butt over to that skatepark pronto. Don't be scared off because most of the skaters at the park are gonna be boys. There's probably gonna be a few guys who make some comments like, "skate bettys can't board" or "girls suck at skateboarding", but don't let that bother you. Just give those chumps a whack across the back of the head with your board, then start skating. A skatepark is a great place to learn new tricks and become a better skateboarder, so don't be afraid to go. Other guys may offer you some advice and you may also meet some other girls who skateboard.

Everybody labels me a tomboy just cuz I play football and basketball and soccer with guys. I like to play those sports and I've known these guys since kindergarten. They're like my best friends and it really feels bad when other kids say I'm a tomboy. I just feel like hurting them really bad.

Hey sportskitty_2002,
There's no reason for you to stop playing sports just because a few idiots call you a tomboy. Don't waste your time worrying about what those other kids say. Those guys aren't your real friends and they're not even worth thinking about. Keep hangin' out with the guys you've always been hangin' with and resist the urge to hurt those other kids. If you lay a smackdown on those zipperheads, they will have succeeded in getting under your skin (and it'll also reinforce their perception that you're a tomboy.)
