I need help on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the Nintendo Gamecube. I need to get pass that guy in the Magical Menagerie to get Ginny's scales but I don't know how to trick him. Please tell me how.

Hey HarryHermione,

I know what it's like to have trouble getting past the Magical Menagerie in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. That place stumped me for a while. The trick is to use your spells to distract the old codger that runs the place.

You have two goals when you're sneaking into the shop:

#1 - Press the button to unbar the door.

#2 - Get through the door when it's unbarred.

It doesn't matter if you get caught after you unbar the door, it stays unbarred. So if you can get that done, the next part is pretty easy.

The trick is to blast a Flipendo spell to the far end of the shop when you're about to be spotted. That'll distract the shop keeper long enough for you to slip past. It's not easy but if you take your time and remember not to get frustrated you'll be ok.

Hi, I am playing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the Playstation 2 and I'm stuck. I need to get out of a place and into Diagon Alley but I can't find my way. Please Help,

Hey Linzy,

It sounds like you're stuck in Diagon Alley right after the Floo Powder goes screwy, right? Of all the shops to land in, you've managed to land in Draco Malfoy's Dad's fave shop. Here's what you have to do to get out:

#1 - Search the large black cabinet in the corner. Once you get inside, Draco Malfoy and his Dad enter and leave a book behind.

#2 - Check out the book to learn Lumos. Lumos lets you see secret passages by lighting them up.

#3 - Check out the back of the large black cabinet - you can use Lumos to find a secret passageway.

#4 - Dodge the barrels and blast the gnomes.

#5 - Defeat the gnomes again and stuff the little brats into cages.

#6 - Call Hedwig to lower the ladder so you can climb up into the attic.

#7 - Use Lumos in the attic to show the weak boards. Don't step on them!

#8 - You're almost there, just keep on going!

Before you know it, you'll be in Diagon Alley with the Weasleys and you'll be able to buy your second-year books for Hogwarts!

Dear Gary,
I think I need to tell you this. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for Gamecube there is a hidden area. When you are in Diagon Alley go to the joke shop. When you walk in don't go strait down the stairs, walk to your left. You will see a book sheft that is dark. Use Lumos to light up the book shelf. If you walk very close to the book shelf your "A" button will say "PUSH". Press the "A" button to get to the secret area.
