Kidzworld recently did some trash talking about cheerleading after some of you peeps questioned whether waving pom-poms and forming pyramids should be called a sport. We called cheerleaders lame, stupid and snobby. But there are a lot of peeps out there who think cheerleading is 'da bomb and think cheerleaders get a bad rap. Here's what some of you had to say.

Cheerleaders must keep a certain grade average to stay on the squad - we're not all "lame brains." We are there to encourage the crowd. We try to raise the spirits of our team. We do lots of hard work. Some cheerleaders are snobs, but that doesn't mean all of them are. Being a cheerleader gives you a respectful personality and people see you better. It also opens new opportunites for you like making lots of friends.

Saying that all cheerleaders are rude and snobby is a complete generalization. There may be cheerleaders who do fit this mold but there are also people in the chess club who may not be the brightest or the nicest in the school. I am a cheerleader. For the record I have a 4.0 and am taking college classes while I am only a junior in high school. I also spend a lot of my free time doing community service. To label me as stupid and snotty, because along with many other things I carry the title cheerleader, is completely ridiculous. At my school, the cheerleaders have one of the highest overall GPAs of all the teams in my school.

Cheerleaders are not lame at all because they make the crowd not bored. I'm a cheerleader and I should know. If cheerleaders are lame, why do people give us money to get new uniforms? Cheerleading and the stunts are amazing to everyone in my town so no one should be saying that cheerleaders are lame because they aren't.

I used to be a cheerleader and you can't be as dumb as the water cooler and make the squad. You have to have a 'c' average. Cheering is not lame, it's a sport. What would you do at halftime if you didn't have cheerleaders to do the halftime show? And we do use more than three word sentences, for your info. The cool part of cheering for someone else or the team is that if they are playing badly it gets their spirit up. And the uniforms are not dorky, they're cool. They show that we are involved in our school or organization and the stunts are not lame. It takes practice to do an elevator stunt. And we don't laugh annoyingly. We tell the team to score so that if they don't have the ball, it encourages them to get it.
