By: Max Cannon

With Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon releasing on November 18th, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced a new special edition 3DS XL that will launch a week earlier than the games on November 11th in Canada and October 28th in the United States. You'll need to pick up the games separately but this is definitely an exciting way to get yourself hyped for the upcoming game.

Take A Look At The New Handheld

This limited edition 3DS XL features 2 of the new legendary Pokémon to be featured in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon - Solgaleo and Lunala - on top of a slick black colored casing. The new portable console is released in celebration of Pokémon's 20th anniversary. "This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved Pokémon series and people have never been talking about Pokémon more,” said Pierre-Paul Trepanier, Nintendo of Canada’s General Manager and Senior Director. “Playing Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon on this new Pokémon system is the best way for fans to show their love for this iconic series.”

If you already have a 3DS XL and aren't looking to upgrade then you may be interested in the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Dual Pack. Both games are included in this pack and 2 codes that let you download 100 Poké Balls will also be available in the pack. You can pick it up at both EB Games and Best Buy.

Prepping For Pokémon

There are several new changes to the upcoming Pokémon series in both Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon which are detailed in a press release from Nintendo:

"Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon introduce players to the latest edition of the Pokémon core series. Taking place in the tropical Alola Region composed of numerous islands, the games include many new features to the series, including a new battle system called Battle Royal, powerful new Z-Moves and the ability to ride several different Pokémon with Poké Ride."

The new games will feature new regions, new moves, and new Pokémon evolutions to bring some much needed changes to the series. The last games in the Pokémon series were Pokémon X and Pokémon Y and though there weren't any drastic changes to gameplay it was the first main Pokémon game to be in full 3D. Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will continue this change and keep this 3D perspective, though the gameplay seems to be the Pokémon that everyone fell in love with 20 years ago. You'll still be fighting Pokémon against each other, capturing them with Poké Balls, and getting gym badges. If you've loved the older Pokémon games than you'll more than likely fall in love with this one as well.

Kidzworld will have a review of the upcoming Pokémon games for the 3DS to prepare for its November release so look forward to our opinions in the coming months! The Pokémon Sun and Moon NEW 3DS XL will release on November 11th for $239.99 in Canada and $199.99 in the United States on October 28th.
