Dear Dish-It, I Want to Skip Sixth Grade

Dear Dish-It,

I want to get promoted to the 7th grade so badly. I'm in 6th right now, but this stuff is not challenging enough because I love school - I like studying, researching, finding out new info - I just love it all. But I want more, since I could remember I've been getting As in grade cards and midterms but I want to move on. I think I could be able to handle it all. The only problem is that why would the school promote ME if there are loads of other students who are just as smart and get As? Do I need to work harder than I do? What can I do to get promoted?

Dear harizon55,

The best way to find out what you need to do to be promoted to the 7th grade is to talk to your teacher about it. Each school has different requirements for these things - maybe you'll need to complete some extra projects or take an aptitude test - but the sooner you talk to someone about it, the sooner you'll be able to get cracking on moving up in the academic world. Before you go stressing about starting the 7th grade early though, you should remember that you're still really young, and you shouldn't rush to grow up too fast. If your main concern is being bored at school, you could also just talk to your teach about hookin' ya up with some harder assignments. That way you could be challenging yourself, while still hanging with all your same pals. Good Luck!

So, ya gotta burnin' question? Need some love directions? Thinkin' 'bout stuff like depression, sex,how ya feel 'bout YOURSELF (that's called "self-esteem"), boyfriends, girlfriends, losin' old friends, bullyin' or peer pressure, but too scared to ask the parents? Don't be scared to .

Friends grow apart as we grow up and change at different rates. It's fine to stop being friends, but it doesn't have to be in a mean way. The best thing to do is talk to her (nicely). You don't have to tell her she's being childish or you feel as if you've matured more. That would be terrible. Talk about things you guys like to do in common or make plans to try new things together. Or don't mention it at all, but don't just begin ignoring her. Eventually the friendship will fade the less time you spend together.

You should be nice to her. If you have to break the news gently don't make her feel bad just talk to her about and see what she says
